Editorial: Who's Jack Magazine

What's this? A blog post? Surely not!

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. Life has gotten very busy as of late, fortunately in a good way.

The good news is I have some shiny new published editorial to share with you - yippeee!

Although, when I say "shiny" and "new", that's not entirely true. I actually styled this editorial a year ago for Alexandra Cameron. As mutual fans of the book and film, we decided to base the story on "The Virgin Suicides", written by Jeffrey Eugenides and directed by Sofia Coppola. It took a while, but now the issue of Who's Jack is out and I can share it with you. Better late than never, eh?

The majority of the clothes are from Rokit vintage and Fable London, as well as some of my own vintage collection. I absolutely love these photos, and it was a nice change of pace to use such simple yet beautiful pieces.

Behind the scenes: photoshoot for Lionheart magazine

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to style a photoshoot for a beautiful new, but already increasingly popular, Lionheart Magazine. Not only was it brilliant to work on something for a magazine that I genuinely love, but it also gave me the opportunity to work with the ever so lovely Claire Huish, the very talented Sophie of The Illustrated Nail and my good friend Akeela Bhattay again. When you're up very early on a Saturday and shooting on a rather chilly Hampstead Heath, it definitely helps to have good company around you!

In terms of styling, the shoot was a very easy one for me, as we were kindly given six incredible dresses by the jaw-droppingly talented Elisa Palomino to feature. Elisa's dresses are incredibly beautiful and intricate, so I wanted to keep the accessories simple and elegant, but still fitting for the 1920s style of the garments.

My photos for these behind the scenes pictures are a mix of ones from my DSLR and Instagram, so please excuse the funny mix of styles. If you fancy following me on Instagram for more sneaky picture fun, my username is frankieisswell.

The shoot went swimmingly, and we were so lucky to have such an fantastic model - the ever so beautiful and lovely Heidi from Premier. Not only did she look amazing in all of the pieces, but she did not complain at any point in the day, despite the fact she was wearing very little in freezing cold weather. What a trooper!

Thank you to the amazing team for making the day so brilliant and for helping to produce such phenomenal images! I've now seen the final shots, and they are just perfect. I promise to share them all with you as soon as the new issue of Lionheart Magazine is published.

I would also like to thank Elisa Palomino for lending us her incredible pieces, Push PR for letting me having free reign of their accessories cupboard and the wonderful Margaret of Penny Dreadful Vintage for letting us take refuge in her beautiful home!

Behind the scenes: photoshoot with Claire Huish

Last weekend, I woke uncharacteristically early for a Saturday and headed over to my favourite shoot location, The Pavilion Hotel, for an editorial shoot with the wonderfully talented Claire Huish. Claire had caught my attention a little while ago after working with my good friend Katie Antoniou, so when she asked if I was interested in styling a colourful shoot inspired by Carmen Miranda, I didn't hesitate.

The shoot began with a rather bumpy start, as the original make up artist we'd booked had to go to A&E with two broken bones in her hand (hope you're feeling better, Madeline!). Fortunately, the lovely Michelle MacGregor stepped in at the last minute and the shoot went swimmingly!

I absolutely loved the eclectic colourful brief, as it allowed me to use pieces by two of my favourite designers - Charlotte Taylor and David Longshaw. Their mind blowingly-beautiful prints were perfectly complimented by incredible shoes by John Brunswick, whimsical headpieces by Her Curious Nature and bold jewellery by Ruby Browning and Disaya. Our lovely model, Jenna from Select, looked incredible and worked these powerful looks like an absolute pro.

I want to say a huge thank you to the amazing team for working so hard and making the shoot so much fun! I also want to thank Iroquois PR, Greene and Sheppard, Kitch and Honey, Sabrina of Her Curious Nature, Jennifer of Ruby Browning and John Brunswick for lending their incredible pieces. They were a true honour to work with.
Come back and see the final pictures soon!

Editorial: Slave Magazine Issue 5

It's official - I've got 2 for 1 crazy. Last week I gave you the final photos and video from the Ayten Gasson AW12 lookbook shoot, and this week I have two lots of editorial to share from Issue 5 of Slave Magazine! It seems that February is the real time for giving (Sorry Christmas, you'll have to try harder this year...).

The first editorial was photographed by the very lovely Faye Sampson, and was loosely based on a Little Red Riding Hood theme. I posted the behind the scenes photos from this shoot back in November 2011, and I'm really pleased to be able to share it with you now.
